- Orthopedic Biomechanics: The Unal lab focuses the mechanics of the human musculoskeletal system, aiming to enhance our understanding of the alteration of bone, cartilage, tendon, ligament and muscle tissues due to the diseases and aging. By doing so, we strive to improve the lives of individuals suffering from orthopedic conditions, with a particular focus on applying cutting-edge AI/ML techniques to biomechanical analysis.
- Biomedical Optics/Biophotonics: Within the captivating realms of biomedical optics and biophotonics, we concentrate our efforts on the emerging field of Raman spectroscopy. This powerful analytical tool allows us to explore the molecular composition of any biological samples, paving the way for breakthroughs in disease detection, monitoring and treatment efficiency as well as characterization of biological tissues. Advanced AI/ML techniques play a crucial role in the analysis and interpretation of Raman spectra, enabling us to unlock deeper insights into biological processes.
- Medical Device Development: In our pursuit of improving healthcare outcomes, we actively engage in the design and creation of innovative medical devices and technologies. These devices/technologies are aimed at addressing unmet clinical needs and enhancing patient care, often incorporating AI/ML components for enhanced functionality.
